The Only Korean Company Invited to Dinner Hosted by the French President
On October 21, SPC Group’s CEO Jin-soo Hur was invited to a dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron. He was the only Korean business leader invited to the dinner, which celebrated the 60th anniversary of the International Food Trade Fair SIAL in Paris. This invitation recognizes SPC Group’s contributions to the KoreaFrance economic and food culture exchange through its global operations with Paris Baguette. SPC Group Chairman Young-in Hur and CEO Jin-soo Hur actively attend international food fairs to stay on top of global food industry trends and introduce new ingredients. With this invitation to President Macron’s dinner, SPC Group’s global business expansion is expected to gain greater momentum.

President Chen Si Receives Industrial Service Medal for Attracting Foreign Investment
On November 5, Chen Si, President of Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort, was awarded the Industrial Service Medal as part of the 2024 Foreign Company Day event hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Foreign Company Association. Foreign Company Day, held annually since 2001, honors companies, institutions, and individuals who have contributed to the Korean economy through Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Chen Si was recognized for successfully leading the largest FDI in the tourism and leisure sector, which positively impacted Korea’s tourism industry. Mohegan Inspire has contributed to the development of the domestic tourism industry by opening a resort worth about KRW 20 trillion on Yeongjongdo Island, with FDI totaling approximately $700 million.

Value-Up Strategy Presented at CEO Investor Day
Hyundai Mobis held its 2024 CEO Investor Day on November 19, where CEO Gyu-suk Lee presented the company’s long-term growth direction and strategies to investors, analysts, and credit rating agencies. The event included specific action plans for achieving goals in global sales and ESG. Hyundai Mobis aims to improve its business structure focused on profitability, with a target of 8% annual revenue growth and an operating profit margin of 5-6% by 2027. Additionally, the company plans to increase the share of global OEM customers in the parts manufacturing sector to 40% by 2033 and achieve a Total Shareholder Return (TSR) of over 30%, while actively pursuing a balanced shareholder return policy.

Yuhan’s Anticancer Drug Becomes First to Enter US Market
Yuhan Corporation’s LECLAZAⓇ(marketed as LAZCLUZE™ overseas) has become the first Korean anticancer drug to enter the US market in 2024. LECLAZA, a treatment for nonsmall cell lung cancer, was introduced in South Korea in 2021 as the country’s 31st new domestic drug. In the United States, it received FDA approval in August 2024 for combination therapy with Janssen Biotech, Inc.’s RYBREVANTⓇ. Prior to insurance coverage for LECLAZAⓇ as a firstline treatment in the second half of 2023, Yuhan provided the drug free of charge to approximately 900 lung cancer patients in Korea, estimated at a value of KRW 30 billion over a sixmonth period. Yuhan Corporation, poised to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026, is actively pursuing R&D to become one of the world’s top 50 pharmaceutical companies and take the leap forward as a global big pharma.

Environmental Social Contribution Projects
An analysis of 142 newly launched social contribution projects (from 125 companies) in 2023 revealed that programs focusing on “environment” accounted for the largest share, at 23.9%. With the institutionalization of ESG occurring most rapidly in the environmental sector, there is an increasing need for companies to respond to the growing global emphasis on ESG. In line with this trend, many companies have actively engaged in greenhouse gas reduction and management, circular economy practices, investment in ecofriendly technologies, and the development of environmentallyfriendly products.

2024 Survey and Analysis Report: ESG at Leading Companies
This report expands upon the corporate sector survey in the “White Paper on Social Contributions by Major Companies and Corporate Foundations” that has been published by FKI since 1993. It includes an analysis of connections to the UN SDGs and the creation of social value by major companies.

Details: BGF Retail has adopted Gungpyeongni Beach in Hwaseong, Gyeonggido Province, conducting annual beach cleanup activities with employees and small business partners.

➋Promoted ecofriendly practices in daily life through environmental education for employees and franchisees.
➌Approximately 110 employees and small business partners participated in the cleanup, collecting 93kg of marine debris.

Purpose: Support ESG management for startups using SK Innovation’s ESG expertise and environmental impact assessment technology.
Details: The expertise of the SK Innovation’s Institute of Environmental Science & Technology is utilized to support environmental value creation and ESG management for startups, social enterprises, and social ventures.
➊Provided support for data management aimed at improving the environment through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

Hyosung Group


Hyosung Ocean Forest Creation Project
Purpose: Address climate change and protect marine environments from pollution.
Details: Participated in the creation of ocean forests in the Wando Sea area.
➊Employees from five Hyosung Group companies (Hyosung, Hyosung TNC, HS Hyosung Advanced Materials, Hyosung Heavy Industries, Hyosung Chemical) directly participated in making seaweed seedling trays and transplanted 2,000 seaweed plants.
➋Invested a total of KRW 1.3 billion (50% government funding, 50% Hyosung Group) in collaboration with the National Fisheries Resources Agency’s South Sea Branch for the creation of ocean forests by 2027, playing a leading role in securing blue carbon resources to address climate change.

“Save Birds KCC Glass” Wild Bird Protection Campaign
Purpose: Raise awareness of the importance of wild birds and birdfriendly architecture.
Details: Launched a biodiversity conservation campaign for the protection of wild birds.
➊Selected buildings located near forests, where collisions with wild birds are expected to be frequent.
➋Affixed bird collision prevention stickers to external glass, certifying the buildings as “Save Birds KCC Glass BirdFriendly Buildings.”
➌Conducted a survey on wild bird collisions in collaboration with the National Institute of Ecology.
